Pontoon Blackjack

Online Pontoon Blackjack

At online casinos, players can choose from hundreds of casino games in every shape and form. For those players who enjoy a classic casino card game, online casinos offer the full range from poker to craps, baccarat to blackjack and more. Of all of these games, online blackjack has become one of the most popular online card games. Unlike slots, blackjack requires a fair amount of skill and strategy in order to rack up the big wins. One of the most popular blackjack games is Pontoon blackjack. Pontoon is classic British version of blackjack and has a few small variations in the rules and game play.

How Pontoon Blackjack Works

As opposed to American Blackjack, Pontoon Blackjack, is played with a 6 decks of cards that are shuffled before the game. In this game, Pontoon pays out 2:1 with a five card trick also paying out 2:1. The game also differs in that both the dealer and the players cards are dealt face down. The dealer must hit on a soft 17 and the player must hit on 14 or less. Otherwise the game itself is played in a similar manner to standard blackjack. The game itself is played on a standard blackjack/pontoon table with three spaces set out for betting.

Starting the Game

With Pontoon Blackjack, the game begins with the player placing his or her bet on the table. In this game there are three sets of card betting options. Players can choose to play a single hand or up to three hands at once against the dealer’s single hand. To place their bet, players must click on their chips and place their bet under the hand or hands they wish to play. Once the bet has been place, players can click on the deal button to start the game.

Totalling your Points

In Pontoon Blackjack, after the player has placed their bet on the table, the dealer will deal the player and himself two cards facing down. The aim of pontoon like blackjack is to get as close to 21 points without going over 21. In pontoon, cards 2 through to 10 are worth their face value, the face cards are all worth 10 points and the ace is worth 11 points or 1 point depending on what is needed. Once the first set of cards have been dealt, the player can then choose to hit, to split or to double down.

Winning a Hand in Pontoon

As with classic blackjack gaming, in Pontoon Blackjack players can request another card by clicking on the hit button. If players are dealt two of the same cards, they can choose to split their hand into two hands and request two more cards. Splitting the hand automatically doubles the bet. Players can also choose to double down. This is where players double their bet and get another card added to their hand. Once the player has decided to hit or stick, the dealer reveals his cards and tries to beat the player’s hand. The player wins that hand if he has a higher hand than the dealer or if the dealer goes bust. The dealer also wins all ties.
